Jeanette Goforth Wilson

Mrs. Jeanette Goforth Wilson, 97, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Jeanette was born in Forsyth County on January 12, 1929, to the late Robert McKinley Goforth and Martha Everidge Goforth. Jeanette was a faithful member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. She graduated from Mineral Springs High School and attended Knox Business School in Tennessee as well as Wake Forest University. A successful businesswoman, Jeanette was a self-employed accountant and later a financial advisor. Jeanette was always smiling and her positive outlook on life was contagious to those around her. She enjoyed music, receiving beautiful flowers, watching Judge Judy and sharing a laugh with her family and friends, often at her expense. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Joel Wilson, Sr.; son, William Joel Wilson, Jr.; daughter, Christina Wilson; and sister, Joyce Pulliam. Jeanette is survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Akerson (John) and Joel Wilson (Brooke); and great grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon, Kelsi, and Hunter. The family is deeply grateful for the loving and compassionate care provided by Karen Harding for almost 8 years. She and Jeanette quickly developed a close friendship full of laughs, southern gossip, and Amazon shopping. Jeanette, “Grammy or Gram” as she was known to her loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and anyone she met, will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. “Love Your Heart” was her well known phrase and used quite often. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Ioana Apoltan as well as the nurses and CNAs on the 6th floor Cardiac Unit at Novant Health Medical Center. The staff would brighten Jeanette’s day, even on the tough days. They would also like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, especially Sarah Hogeman whose musical talents connected with Jeanette in her final days. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Forsyth Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or the Baptist Children’s Homes of NC, PO Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Mrs. Wilson.
