Jeanine Bateman

Jeanine E. Bateman died peacefully at her home in Advance, NC, on Sunday, January 27, 2019, following a brief battle with cancer. She was 89 years old.  She was born in Berea, Ohio on February 24, 1929 and lived there most of her life. She moved several times before finally settling in North Carolina to be near family, almost twenty years ago. Survivors include her sons, Thomas (Mary Jo) of Chicago, IL, Scott (Sherry) of Richmond, VA and a daughter Kimberly (Dale) of Charlotte, NC. She has nine grandchildren - Lauren, T.J. and James; Lindsay, Amanda and Eric; Chloe, Robert and Casey.   Jeanine attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she met her late husband, Thomas W. Bateman, who preceded her in death in 2014.  While raising three children, she spent many years as a homemaker and worked periodically as an Interior Designer and Librarian. She was a nature lover and played bridge avidly in countless clubs over the years. She loved to sing and enjoyed her practices and performances with the (Bermuda) Village Singers. She will be remembered for her beautiful voice and other artistic abilities including water painting and cooking with fresh herbs.  Her children will fondly remember her performances with the Berea Methodist Church choir, in particular during Christmas seasons.  Jeanine's many volunteer activities included PTA Board Member, P.E.O. Member, HOA Board Member, Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie Troop Leader, WFU research study participant; March of Dimes, American Heart Association and American Cancer Society fundraiser.  A loyal, compassionate soul, her quiet elegance, friendship and affection for her family will be grievously missed and yet will abide in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 3:00 pm, at Bermuda Village Retirement Community in Advance, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or UNICEF. Online condolences may be made to www.hayworth-miller.com. (Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel)
