Jeffrey Carl Oberlin, 57, of Kernersville, North Carolina, went to the Lord on Wednesday, April  17, 2024.   Jeffrey was born on October 15, 1966, in Mifflin, PA, the son of the late Alfred and Janet Swab Oberlin. After completing high school, Jeffrey attended Penn State and graduated with a BSc degree in Social Sciences in 1992. He also holds an additional bachelor’s degree from Edinboro College. After college graduation, Jeffrey moved to South Carolina to take a teaching position. After his South Carolina assignment, Jeffrey moved to North Carolina where he taught and coached varsity soccer at both Ridgecroft School and Oak Ridge Military Academy. He later taught in Rowan County Schools as well.  Afterwards, Jeff spent several years on international teaching duties in multiple Middle Eastern countries included Bahrain, Kuwait, Syria and Yemen where he taught English and math for special need students. Jeff has also briefly taught in Malaysia and China. After his foreign teaching assignments, Jeffrey moved back to North Carolina and taught at the North Carolina Leadership Academy. Jeff’s last teaching assignment before his passing was at Southeast Middle School, and he also taught driver’s education for the NC Driving School. Jeffrey has dedicated his entire life to his passion for teaching, and he loved his students very much. Jeffrey will be missed by so many who loved him dearly.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Candace Oberlin. Beloved family members left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ewnet Hailu Tefera; His three children, Kristina Oberlin, Katelyn Oberlin, and Karlie Oberlin; two siblings, Kimbra R. O’Shura and her husband, Leo, and Lisa A. Yohn and her husband, David, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 5pm, Friday, April 26, 2024, at Triad Baptist Church with Dr. Rob Decker officiating.  Burial will take place the following day at Old Church Hill Cemetery in Port Royal, PA. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
