Jerold Smith

Jerold Lee Smith, 71, made his transition on May 18, 2018 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home surrounded by family. Jerold, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, friend, Chaplain, and spiritual teacher, will be greatly missed. After proudly serving in the United States Air Force, Jerold and his wife Billie made their home in Winston-Salem where Jerold worked at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center as the Director of Risk and Insurance Management for 38 years. He was the head Chaplain and respected member of Unity Church of Winston-Salem. Jerold touched the lives of all those he met with his unwavering capacity to love. Jerold was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Dora Franklin Smith of Pineola, NC. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Billie Nelson Smith; his son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Tiffany Smith; his daughter and son-in-law, Amie and Bill Heideman; and his grandchildren, William Wallace Heideman, Elise McKenna Heideman, and Jesse Jerold Smith. A celebration of Jerold's life will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Unity Church of Winston-Salem with Rev. Elizabeth Forrest officiating. The family will receive friends at the church, following the service. The family would like to thank friends and family for their gracious love, friendship, and support over the past several months.
