KERNERSVILLE- Jerry Demarcus Calhoun, 65, passed away February 20, 2014 at W.G. Hefner Medical Center in Salisbury. He was born November 5, 1948 in Forsyth Co. to the late Joel Elijah and Doris Irene White Calhoun.

Jerry was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam Era and was awarded several medals. He was an avid baseball player, having played in the Big Little League 16 years old and older. Above all, Jerry loved his family and was a great family man.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Calhoun, Jr. and sister, Dura Mae Venable.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Tilley Calhoun of the home; two daughters, Sherri Allen and Stephanie Funderburk; four grandchildren, Julieann, Kyle, Katie, and Kayleigh; one brother, Jack Calhoun and four nephews.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2014 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Roger Pinnix officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the funeral home.
