Jerry Sutton Cashwell

Jerry Sutton Cashwell, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. He was born on January 12, 1950, to the late Jerry James and Sybil Sutton Cashwell in New Hanover County, NC. Jerry will be remembered for his quiet and humble nature. He was extremely witty- when he did speak, he had everyone laughing. Jerry was also hardworking; he spent 32 years as an accountant at Export Leaf Tobacco Company and completed his bachelor’s degree in his forties. More than anything, Jerry loved his family. His daughters and grandchildren were the apple of his eye, and he was present for all their important events. He will be missed immensely by those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Amy W. Cashwell; three daughters, Renee C. Slate (Ricky), Camille C. Bagent (Jeff), and Lori C. McLain (Jay); six grandchildren, Drue Bagent, Loren B. Gutierrez (Daniel), Tyler Bagent (Abby Grace), Noah Darnell (Jaclyn), Leah Darnell, Katie McLain, and Ian McLain; a great-grandson, Dane Darnell; a sister, Sherrill Crotts (Mike); two brothers, James Cashwell (Toni) and Craig Cashwell (DeeDee); as well as a sister-in-law, Melinda Willis.

There are no formal services at this time, per Jerry’s request, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 5171 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27612.
