Mr. Jerry Wayne Lewis, 73, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 23, 2026. He was born on August 22, 1952, in Forsyth County to the late Harold and Georgia Lewis.
Affectionately known as “Pa,” Jerry had a deep love for his family and treasured every moment spent with them. He especially enjoyed trips to the beach, rarely passing up an opportunity to feel the sand between his toes. Ocean Lakes in Surfside Beach held a special place in his heart, where countless memories were made with loved ones. Jerry also found great joy in dancing with his beloved wife, Toni, often to the tunes of his favorite station, 94.9 The Surf.
Jerry was an avid football fan, cheering faithfully for both the Dallas Cowboys and the Carolina Panthers. He also enjoyed attending his grandbabies’ ball games. Jerry never turned down a good meal—especially from Nick’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers in Welcome—and was a devoted member of Pinedale Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Garry Lewis; his sister, Patricia Humphreys; and his special uncle, Bobby Lewis.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Toni Lewis; children, Ashley Athan (Wes) and Daniel O’Neal (Elizabeth); and his grandchildren, Corbin Athan, Rayleigh Eddins, Lilly Morrison, Madison O’Neal, Lorali Morrison, Kylie O’Neal, Isaiah Athan, and Hailey O’Neal.
He is also survived by children from a previous marriage, Christy Hoover Baker (Joey) and Brad Lewis (Jamie); grandchildren, Allison Gregg, Kendall Hoover (Shelby), Chase Lewis (Taylor), Emilee Lewis, Kelsey Hoover (Ben), Holly Hooker (Devin), and Ryn Lewis; and great-grandchildren, Cooper Gregg, Sawyer Rose Gregg, Dawson Hoover, Scottlyn Jo Hoover, Kelley Hoover, and Zane Lewis.
Additional survivors include his brothers, Todd Lewis (Angie) and Darrell Lewis; a special aunt, Brenda Lewis; his cherished companion, Chloe Cat; and his grand dogs, Oreo and Bella Boo.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Pinedale Christian Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to their neighbors Renee and Anna for their kindness during this time.
