Jerry Mar Swain

Jerry Mar Swain, 86, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 14, 1939, Jerry was known for his sharp intellect, unique sense of humor, and quick-witted personality. In the early 1960s, Jerry proudly served his country as a member of the elite 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagles.” Following his military service, he transitioned into a career in sales, beginning at Cahill & Swain Men’s Clothing, paving the way for a lifetime of joy in sales.

Jerry possessed a lifelong passion for golf. As an avid player and a dedicated spectator, he enjoyed its challenge and social community. He also had a natural talent for mechanics and took great joy in tinkering with and repairing various projects.

Jerry shared a lifetime of history with his beloved wife, whom he married in 1961, Linda Gay Shelton Swain. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Ginger, Cindy, Scott, and Misty; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, officiated by Pastor Hank Jackson. A burial will immediately follow the funeral at Forsyth Memorial Park, 3815 Yadkinville Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
