Jerry "Billy" Williams, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2026. He was born on May 26, 1956, in Augusta, Georgia, to Edgar Williams and Carrie Gay Williams, both of whom preceded him in death.
Billy was married to the love of his life, Carol McAdams Williams, who also preceded him in death. Together they made their home in Augusta, Georgia, for many years before returning to Winston-Salem in 1999.
Billy is survived by his son, James Mel Williams, and his grandson, Landon Williams. He is also survived by his sisters Deborah Brendler and husband Steve Brendler of Bluffton, South Carolina; Hattie Wolfe of Augusta, Georgia; Hazle Kohlmeyer of Greensboro, North Carolina; and Lucille Phillips of Warrenville, South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Lou McAdams Garner and husband Ralph Garner, and Grace McAdams Carlton and husband Paul Carlton all of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He leaves behind many beloved nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Billy was preceded in death by his brothers, Willie Williams and Clyde Williams, and his sisters, Geraldine Cumbee and Rosa Manello.
Billy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who cherished his family and friends. He was an avid University of Georgia fan and took great pride in being a Bulldog. Whether cheering on Georgia football, basketball, or any other athletic program, Billy faithfully followed and supported his beloved Bulldogs throughout his life.
A private family memorial service will be held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel Saturday August 8, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00.
