Mr. Jesse Burke Flynt went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday evening, March 1, 2014. He was born in Forsyth County on November 21, 1920 to the late Marvin Conrad and Opie Burke Flynt. Jesse was a gracious and giving man who served in the United States Army in the 102nd Infantry Ozarks Division, as a cook, during World War II. He was a lifelong member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church. Jesse enjoyed gardening, the beach, coastal fishing, and was always ready for the next trip. He liked to play the scratch off tickets and looked forward to bus trips to Cherokee, NC. Jesse retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 35 years of service. He really enjoyed retirement but most of all he enjoyed the extra time he got to spend with his family and friends. Jesse was preceded in death by his wife Marymena Wear Flynt. He is survived by daughter Lou Ann Jackson and husband Lance of Clemmons, NC; grandson Luke Jackson and wife Tracy of Kernersville, NC; great granddaughter Chloe Jackson of Kernersville, NC; brother Bruce Flynt of Pine Knoll Shores, NC; and a very special friend Mabel Culler. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with the Rev. Dr. Worth Green officiating. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7-9 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made in Jesse's name to New Philadelphia Moravian Church 4440 Country Club Road Winston-Salem, N.C. 27104 or Hospice and Palliative Care.
