Jessie Slate

Mrs. Jessie Lee Middleton Slate, 92, of Kernersville, graduated on to Heaven on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born April 20, 1925 to Mr. John Booth Middleton and Mrs. Cora Whitley Middleton. Mrs. Slate was a member of Calvary Baptist Tabernacle, enjoyed her word puzzles, sewing, taking care of her flower beds, especially her irises, and watching the birds that would visit. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Clarence Slate, and a son, William "Bill" Slate, Jr. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Slate Baker and husband Jerry of Bradenton, FL, and Shondra Slate Mauck and husband Tom of Pinnacle, five grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her 100 year old brother, Jim Middleton and wife Mary Ruth, a daughter-in-law, Amelia Branch Slate, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, officiated by Pastor Daniel Hawtree and Pastor Ronnie Andrews. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday, September 29, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Caribbean Radio Lighthouse #243 for their generator fund, Baptist Int. Missions P.O. Box 9, Harrison, TN 37341.
