Jessie Combs Tilley

Jessie Combs Tilley, 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. She was born on January 28, 1927 in Forsyth County to Otto Combs and Carrie Iola McCraw Combs. She graduated from Mineral Springs High School and attended Forsyth Technical College, where she continued to grow her education throughout her lifetime by taking many courses in a variety of subjects until the later years of her life. Jessie retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after many years of employment. She was also a member of Glen View Baptist Church for over 50 years. Jessie loved to oil paint in her spare time and was a woman who saw ""the best"" in everyone and everything. Her family was the most important part of her life and she was a loving mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother who was always there to care for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Scotty and Jerry Tilley; one grandson, Jeffrey Tilley; and two brothers, Ralph and Larry Combs. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Sapp (Jim); six grandchildren, Todd Tilley, Wendi Bohlinger, Toby Tilley, Jamie Sapp, Lori Bowman, and Kristan Moser; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Royden Combs (Gracie); two sisters-in-law, Alma Jean Combs and Vicky Combs; and many loving nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Johnny Gupton and Rev. Brad Wright officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 am -12:00 pm at the funeral home.
