After 6 years of battling against multiple physical issues, Jewel left this world to go home to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on 03/04/2024. Jewel was preceded in death by her parents James Clyde and Mary Fanny Rayfield, her beloved brother Howard Maynard, her daughter Paige, and her husband Rodney. Jewel is survived by her son Jeffrey Scott of Winston-Salem, her grandchildren Kayse (Andrew) and Austin, and five great grandchildren Joseph, Cooper, Scarlet, Chloe, and Nathan. Jewel was born in Winston-Salem and grew up on the south side of town. Jewel attended Gray High School where she was a cheerleader. Shortly after graduation, Jewel went to work at Long Haymes and Carr Advertising Agency. Jewel worked there with her beloved friend Patsy Thomas for 38 years before retiring in the year 2000 as the Vice President of Creative Development. Jewel had a lifelong love of, and collection of, primitive antiques of all kinds and thoroughly enjoyed buying and selling those primitives. Buying and selling those primitives with her friends Joe and Becky Merrill whom she loved dearly. Jewel also loved her “Mountain House” and her log cabin (Playhouse) in Laurel Fork, Virginia which are beautifully decorated with her collection of primitive/period antiques. Jewel was the wife of a Winston-Salem FireFighter (Captain R.W. Henley) and the mother of a Winston-Salem FireFighter (Battalion Chief J.S. Henley) and supported and held closely both Rodney and Jeff as they served in their profession. Jewel was a member of Bethel Methodist Church and worked on various committees and boards at Bethel. Services will be at Bethel Methodist Church and are as follows: the family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm Friday March 7, 2024. A church service will follow from 1pm-2pm with burial services to follow in the church cemetery. Please join the family afterwards for desserts and a “Coff-a-Cuppie” as she called it.
