Jimmie Lee Sears Jr., age 56, of Kernersville, passed away February 11, 2026, at the University of Michigan Health. Jimmie was born on May 9, 1969, in Winston-Salem to Jimmie Lee Sr. and Lynda Tutterow Sears. He was a 1987 graduate of East Forsyth High School and was a member of the football team. He had a strong faith in God, deeply loved his family, and was known for his infectious laugh. He was a dedicated journeyman lineman; he worked faithfully in the trade his entire life, taking pride in his work and the brotherhood that came with it. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting birds and rabbits, and horseback riding. He was especially passionate about spending time on the Sears Family Farm, a place that meant so much to him.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include: his mother, Lynda Tutterow Sears, of Kernersville, sons: Tyler Sears, of Oak Ridge, Alston Sears, of Kernersville, and Jaron Sears, of Yadkinville, sisters: Tammy Capps and husband Roger, of Thomasville, and Lori Sears, of Kernersville, grandsons: Wyatt Sears and Sawyer Sears, a nephew, Travis, a niece, Willow, and a K-9 companion, Dottie.
Arrangements are incomplete.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
