Jimmie J. Waddell died Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at home. He was born in Forsyth County on January 29, 1935, to Thurman Hershell and Nora Absher Waddell. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother and sister-in-law, Travis Eugene and Hilda H. Waddell, and a sister, Mazie Griffin. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Janice Waddell of the home; one son, David Waddell  (and wife, Suzelle) of Raleigh; one daughter, Dee Anne Adams (and Terry) of Lexington; four grandchildren, Brent Adams of Franklin, Ohio; David Waddell (and Phuong) of Cary; Audrey Shore (and Bradley) of Raleigh, and Darren Adams of Lexington and six great-grandchildren, Mason and Austin Waddell of Cary and Dawson, Bennett, Campbell and Ruby Shore of Raleigh. He is also survived by a brother, Gray Waddell (and Bobbie). He was an active member of New Friendship Baptist Church for as long as health permitted. He graduated from Mineral Springs High School and worked for Southern Bell / Bell South for 38 years. Since his retirement in 1991, he has volunteered at the Hospice Home, Forsyth Memorial Hospital, and Meals on Wheels of Davidson County. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held by Chaplain Rennie Adcock at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the Mausoleum Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care.
