Joann Steinmetz Barr

Joann “Jo” Steinmetz Barr, 90, passed away on July 12, 2026, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

Jo was born on September 25, 1935, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Bill and Laura Steinmetz. She worked as an administrative assistant for many years for AMF Major League Lanes in Winston-Salem, NC. Later, she worked as an administrative assistant for Fairview Moravian Church and Bethabara Moravian Church.

Jo and her late husband, John “Jack” Barr, were faithful members of First Presbyterian Church of Winston-Salem. Jo enjoyed bowling and camping, two hobbies she and Jack shared. Most importantly, she cherished the time she spent with her loving family.

In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack. She is survived by her sons, John Kenneth Barr (Connie) and Robert Todd Barr (Kristi); grandchildren, Conor Todd Barr and Savannah Grace Barr; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 300 N Cherry St, Winston-Salem, NC. The family will receive friends following the service in the Chapel Lounge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters, 200 South Marshall Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
