"Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband, also, and he praises her: "Many have done excellently, but you surpass them all." Proverbs:31.
Mrs. JoAnn Williams Cromer, 92, of Winston-Salem died Thursday, April 16, 2026 following a long and blessed life. Her faith is now sight as she lives with the God who she worshipped and adored. Mrs. Cromer was born November 19, 1933 in Forsyth County to Thomas Woodrow and Edna Grubbs Williams. She was a member of Beck's Baptist Church for over 60 years, faithful in her commitment as long as her health permitted. She was a pianist for various services, accompanied church quartets and sang in the choir. She and her late husband, Gene, were members of the RV Club at Beck's and traveled many miles in their RV with friends and family alike, creating wonderful memories that endured a lifetime. Her Christian faith - and Beck's Baptist Church - were important to her. Mrs. Cromer worked several years for Wachovia Bank before joining the Accounting Department of Piedmont Airlines, from which she retired after many years of dedicated service. Her greatest accomplishment, though, was her family, which she adored. One of her happiest times was when she was preparing delicious food for holiday meals and family gatherings. She loved her family dearly and they will miss her. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cromer was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Eugene Cromer, in 2004. She is survived by sons, Larry Cromer (wife, Judy) and Michael Cromer, both of Winston-Salem; grandchildren Kristin Beeson (Micheal) and Lindsay Cromer; great grandchildren Tyler Caldwell, Elijah and Silas Beeson; beloved sisters, Linda W. Weaver and Wilma W. Sanders; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, April 19, 2026 at Beck's Baptist Church Cemetery, 5505 Beck's Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106. Rev. Rick Carter will officiate. The family will receive friends in the Beck's Church chapel following the graveside service. Memorials may be directed to Oak Forest United Methodist Church, 11461 Old US Highway 52, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel is assisting the Cromer family.
