Joann Harris

Joann Harris, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024. She was born July 26, 1938, in Washington, a daughter of the late Ollie and Bertha J. Courtwright Rawson. Joann graduated from Chartiers-Houston High School in 1956. On June 28, 1958, she married John O. Harris, who is deceased. In November of 1998, Joann and John moved to Kernersville, North Carolina, to be closer to their family. 

She was a member of Third United Presbyterian Church of Washington and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of AARP. Joann retired in 1995 from USDA, Farm Service Agency. She had previously worked for Kennedy and Company Insurance Adjusters. Once retired, she and her husband spent their winters in Florida. She enjoyed sewing, playing games including Mahjong, playing the organ, line dancing and using her iPad.

Surviving are a son, John Douglas (Helen) Harris of Summerfield, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Brittany Leigh (Kevin) Lansink of Summerfield, North Carolina and Brian Douglas Harris of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a great-granddaughter, Audrey Lansink.

Services were held in Washington, Pennsylvania under the care of William G. Neal Funeral Home, on Thursday, September 19, 2024. A private burial followed in Washington Cemetery, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joann’s name to American Cancer Society.
