JoAnn Hester Martin

JoAnn Hester Martin, 82, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born to the late Ransom Hester and Mae Whitt Hester on June 29, 1943, in Forsyth County.

JoAnn graduated from Glenn High School. She went on to sell insurance to different healthcare agencies across the country for 30 years. JoAnn was a hard-working woman who loved farming and keeping her house clean. She suffered from Parkinson's disease during the later years of her life. Despite the disease, she kept going and continued to do what she loved to the best of her ability.

In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her favorite aunt, Ruby Newsome.

She is survived by her loving husband, Terry Wayne Martin.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown Mausoleum Chapel. Officiating the service is Rev. Frank Shumate.

The family would like to give a special thanks to JoAnn’s caregiver, Angela Lawson, for her love dedicated support of JoAnn over the years.
