JoAnn Shepherd Watson

JoAnn Shepherd Watson, known as ""Granny Jo"" to many, passed away Friday, August 29, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Ashe County to the late Charles Thomas and Pearl ""Mimmie"" Shepherd. Ms. Watson was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. She is survived by her four sons, Anthony Gerald Watson of Advance, Benjamin Thomas Watson (Pam) of Siloam, Lewis Wayne Watson of Winston-Salem, and Keith Scott Watson of High Rock Lake; a brother, Robert Shepherd (Brenda) of Asheville; three sisters, Patricia Colson (Charles) of Fayetteville, Donna Hodges (Joe) of Fleetwood, and Sue Stringer (Pat) of Morganton; seven grandchildren, Wesley, Tommy, Jessica, Joshua, Keith, Jr., Courtney, and Bubba; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm, Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church with Dr. Joe Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors and nurses on the sixth floor of Forsyth Medical Center for the kindness and support given to Ms. Watson and her family.
