Jodi Grenier

Jodi Leigh Grenier 48, of Winston-Salem -- beloved daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and beautiful spirit -- passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018 after a long illness. Jodi was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on October 28, 1969. She went on to travel the world and lit up the lives of everyone she met. She was a graduate of Venice High School (Florida), Bridgewater State University (Massachusetts), and Lesley University (also Massachusetts), where she earned a Masters Degree in International Studies. Jodi was employed in various business capacities by GMAC, Johnson & Wales University, R.J. Reynolds, and Phillip Morris International. She interrupted her career in the mid-1990s to travel to Japan to absorb both Asian culture and the Japanese language and to teach English to Japanese students and business people. As she traveled the world, Jodi left a lasting impression on all who met her and made many lifelong friends from many countries and cultures. Survivors include her father, John E. Grenier, Jr and her stepmother, Linda Grenier, of Advance, North Carolina; her mother Shirley Nunes and her brother John Grenier of Young Harris, Georgia; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and dear friends the world over. Jodi's life changed forever on September 11, 2001. A resident of the World Trade Center neighborhood and one of the many selfless individuals who volunteered at Ground Zero, she was exposed to debris, dust, smoke, and fumes that would cause her medical problems for the rest of her life. Despite her many physical challenges, she celebrated life every day and spread a bright light to all who crossed her path. That light will live on in the memories of those who had the privilege to know her. A memorial service will be held at St Andrews Episcopal Church, New Bedford, Mass at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 27, 2018. The family thanks the staff of the Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home of Advance NC and also to the good people at Reynolda Church, Winston Salem, NC. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Jodi's name to FealGood Foundation, 144 Shenandoah Blvd, Nesconset, NY 11767 which was created to help 911 victims and their families.
