Joe Lee Allen

PFAFFTOWN - Mr. Joe Lee Allen died Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born November 29, 1933 in Surry County to Henry Lee and Clemmie Flynn Allen. Mr. Allen was a longtime member of Brookstown United Methodist Church. He worked in the lumber business for 43 years and retired from Poindexter Lumber Company. He grew up on a farm in the Shoals Community and loved gardening and being outside. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Irene, Colene, Annie Mae and Frances. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Rebecca Gunter Allen of the home; two daughters, Leshia Allen Bailiff (Bruce) and Kendra Leigh Allen; two grandchildren, Victoria and Bradford Bailiff; one brother, Ray Allen (Ann); one sister, Judy Cude (Jimmy); and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Friday, January 31, 2014 at Brookstown United Methodist Church with Rev. James T. ""Chip"" Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
