Joe Hargette, Jr.

Mr. Joe Alson Hargette, Jr., 67, of Pfafftown, NC, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Joe was born in Monroe, NC, on February 6, 1952, to Joe Alson Hargette, Sr., and Mary Arden Tysinger Hargette. He graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1970, where he was an outstanding basketball and football player. He continued his education and graduated from Kings Business College in Charlotte, NC, before entering the food service industry and later working in the insurance industry. Joe enjoyed listening to music, playing golf with his friends and especially loved going to the beach and fishing at the Outer Banks with his family and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Arden Tysinger Hargette of Monroe, NC; and his wife, Sandra Nix Hargette, of Pfafftown, NC. Surviving are his father, Joe Alson Hargette, Sr., of Monroe, NC; son and daughter, Michael Hargette and Jennifer Hargette of Winston-Salem, NC; step-daughter, Jennifer Boyette of Charleston, SC; brother, Wayne Hargette (Jeannie); nephews, Johnathan Hargette (Ginny) and Andrew Hargette (Mollie) of Monroe, NC; and former wife and friend, Helene Creson of Winston-Salem, NC. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Monday, May 20, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:45-1:45pm on Monday, May 20, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the American Heart Association, 7029 Albert Pick Rd Ste. 200, Greensboro, NC 27409, or charity of the donor’s choice.
