Joe Shermer Martin

Mr. Joe Shermer Martin, 72, a resident of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026, at his residence. Joe was born in Guilford County to the late Jack Taler and Harriett Shermer Martin on April 4, 1954.

Joe worked for Quality Fence Builders in High Point for many years. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to always bring laughter to those around him. Joe was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing guitar and watching racing of all kinds. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Martin, and two brothers, Mark and Terry Martin.

Left to cherish Joe’s memory are his daughters, Susan Newsome (Frank) and Joie Edwards (Thomas); step-daughter, Angela Norman (Donnie); step-son, Christopher McDaniel (Brittany); sister, Sharon Dellinger; brother, JT Martin; grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, Hannah, Justin, Jacob, Addison, Ainsley, and Maverick; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service will be held by the family at his residence, 3850 Old Lexington Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107, beginning at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
