Joe Skipworth, 90, of Kernersville, NC went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at his home. He was born to the late Ruth Skipworth Lawson on June 10, 1935, in Florence, Alabama.
Joe worked as a dedicated machinist at Triangle Machine for over 40 years before his retirement. After being drafted, he served in the Army from 1958 - 1960. Joe was a member of Deep River Church of Christ where he enjoyed spending time with his church family. He had many hobbies, such as playing the guitar and mandolin, watching Alabama Football “Roll Tide!”, old western movies, and listening to his bible tapes. Joe will be remembered as a simple and hardworking man who loved his family.
In addition to his mother, Joe is preceded in death by his loving wife, Christine Skipworth; and stepfather, Lando P. Lawson.
He is survived by his caring children, Darae Skipworth Hamilton (Michael), and Cary Skipworth; grandchildren, Alisha Rebman (Chris), Samantha Skipworth (Paul Mervin Powell II), and Robert Skipworth; great-grandchildren, Paul Mervin Powell III, Donald Joe Powell, Cary Jason Powell, Hadley Rebman, and Cece Rebman; and sister-in-law, Alpha Price (James).
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am before the service. Officiating the service is Pastor David Galloway and Chaplain Cary Skipworth. The burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Deep River Church of Christ at 2067 Deep River Rd, High Point, NC 27265 in honor of Joe.
