Joel Carter Clark

Mr. Joel Carter Clark, 67, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Clark was born in Clermont County, Ohio on October 16, 1949, to the late Orville William Clark and Iva Trowbridge Clark. Joel was a member of Woodland Baptist Church where he served as both a Deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He was known for his beautiful, smooth singing voice and sang solos and in gospel quartets in numerous churches. Joel enjoyed searching for bibles on Ebay and providing them for church members who otherwise wouldn't have one. He was loved by everyone and a friend to anyone he came across and he never met a stranger. Joel loved his family and loved his dogs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Mike Clark, and a sister, Geraldine Bredwell. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Parks Clark of the home; one son, Joel Darren Clark of Lexington, NC; one daughter, Susan Clark Praytor and husband, Trent of Simpsonville, SC; two grandchildren, Carter and Caroline Praytor; four siblings, Joanne Galyon of Tennessee, James Clark and wife, Naomi of Mt. Orab, Ohio, Jill Gulick and husband, Wilson of West Union, Ohio, and Kathy Reid and husband, Ronnie of Georgetown, Ohio; and his mother-in-law, Susan Parks of Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Woodland Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Gammons officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Woodland Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Woodland Baptist Church, 1175 Bethania Rural Hall Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27106. Joel was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family of Mr. Clark.
