John Sheridan Brannan

Mr. John Sheridan Brannan was born April 26, 1940, to the late Charles Thomas and Anna Jenness Brannan.  Mr. Brannan served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1966 and was a member of AMVETS, American Legion, and VFW.  He was also of the Catholic faith and had attended the University of Maryland.  A businessman at his core, he developed “Brannan on the Moors” subdivision in Holly Ridge, NC.    Preceding him in death was his wife of 50 years, Anita Tidler Brannan; son, David Sheridan Brannan; two brothers, Philip Brannan (Carol) and Christopher Brannan.  Surviving is a son, Michael Brannan; daughter, Terri Joyce (Billy); granddaughter, Amy Plemmons (Kenny); grandson, Johnathon Stowers (Shawna Plemmons); four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Katlin, and Logan Plemmons and Jackson Stowers; two brothers, Charles and Francis Brannan; two sisters, Melissa Gibson and Carrie Forrest; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 6, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Pastor L.C. Taylor officiating.  Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW Post 9983, 188 Hines Stump Sound Church Rd.
