John Bob Charles

Mr. John ""Bob"" Charles, 78, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, August 1, 2008 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Charles was born in Davidson County to the late John Burton and Leland Brooks Charles on February 13, 1930. He was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. Mr. Charles retired from McLean Trucking after 38 years of service. He was past president of the Ardmore Community Club and worked with the Junior Achievement Club. Mr. Charles was preceded in death by a brother Don Arthur. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Marie Johnston Charles of the home; two daughters Lynne Charles of Suffolk, Virginia and Kathryn Stones of Winston-Salem; a son Ken Charles and wife Judy of El Dorado Hills, California; two grandchildren Kendall and Meredith; and a sister Pat Tucker of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 am Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Christa Warise officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
