Mr. John Irvin Hamilton, 91, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 at his home. Mr. Hamilton was born in Webster County, Missouri to the late Morris Irvin and Alice Baker Hamilton. He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Hamilton was a graduate of Kansas State University. He retired from AT&T after 37 years of loyal service. John loved to play tennis and played consistently until he was 85. He was active in the prayer ministry at Calvary Baptist Church, and he loved to spend time with his family. He delighted in seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved holding them in his arms when they were little. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 56 years, Eileen Lennon Hamilton; two daughters, Leilani Mendenhall and husband Mark of Apex, NC; Donna Lee Clements and husband Richard of Ft. Pierce, FL; one son, Kevin David Hamilton and wife Kristen of Lewisville, NC; nine grandchildren, Luke Mendenhall; Brittany Ainsworth and husband Chad, John and Logan Clements; David, Anna, William, Elizabeth and Andrew Hamilton; two great-grandchildren, Lylah Clements and Claire Ainsworth; two sisters, Patricia Wagner of Bennington, KS; Mary Mattson of Lindsborg, KS; two brothers, James Hamilton of Dublin, Ohio; Joe Hamilton of Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by one brother, Tom Hamilton of Asheville, NC. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Chapman officiating. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, with military honors provided by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Location.
