John Ray Hull, 83, passed away peacefully in his residence on Saturday, May 18, 2024. He was born on May 2, 1941, to the late James Columbus Hull Sr. and Edna Belle Bowles Hull. John was a hardworking man. He was a proud United States Army veteran and served for 22 years. John also was proud of his work at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 36 years of service. He also was a devoted member of Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church for many years. He was a generous man, strong but tender-hearted. John loved his family dearly, most of all his loving wife and high school sweetheart of 64 years, Peggy. John always believed that family came first. He will be missed incredibly by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Gallimore, as well as many siblings.
Surviving is his wife, Peggy Hull; four children, Susan Grubbs (David), Jason Hull, Amy Angel (David), and Christopher “Chris” Hull (Lori); Grandchildren, Heather Atkins (Donovan), Ashley Franklin, Amanda “Mandy” Gallimore, John “Jack” Grubbs, Cameron Grubbs, Brianna Hull, and Emily Hull; Great-grandchildren, Jayden Franklin, Kaedynce Franklin, Gracelyn Atkins, Natalie Atkins, Gabriel Atkins, Camden Renegar, and (soon-to-be) Sofia De Leon; brother, Terry Hull (Harriet); two sisters, Betty Maynrich (John) and Edna Mae Cloer; a sister-in-law, Anna “Frankie” Poindexter; as well as many other extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church in Germanton, NC. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Any donations in John’s honor may be made to Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church at 8104 Red Bank Rd, Germanton, NC 27019, or to Cure GM1 Foundation at Cure GM1 Foundation, PO Box 6890, Albany, CA 94706.
