John Robert 'Bob' McCollem, Jr.

KERNERSVILLE - John Robert 'Bob' McCollem, Jr., 86, was born on June 24, 1925 in Yadkin County to the late John Robert & Leona McCollem. For the last four and a half years, he resided at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living in Mount Airy, NC. He passed away peacefully there on May 25, 2012. Bob was a WWII US Army Veteran. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and retired from RJ Reynolds after 15 years. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; brothers, Raeford and Roscoe; and sister, Pauline. Surviving are his daughter, Vickie Routh (Roger); a son, Steve McCollem (Deborah); grandchildren, Shelley Wethington (Paul), Aaron Routh (LeAnne), Brian McCollem, and Amber Snyder (Larry); great grandchildren, Victoria Pack, Grant and Garrett Routh, Anderson and Camden Snyder; brothers, Ralph McCollem (Carolyn) and Raymond McCollem (Nancy); sisters, Hazel Hendrix, Jane Holt, Lois Gregory (Walt) and Ann Reavis. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Carroll Penn Welborn and Rev. Jason Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM, Monday at the funeral home.
