John Arthur Reid

John Arthur Reid, 84, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Clemmons Village II Assisted Living in Clemmons. John was born on September 26, 1932 in Forsyth County to Graham Edgar Reid, Sr. and Blanche Irene Angel Reid. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Korean War. John was a very active member of Bethania Moravian Church and volunteered much of his time to church activities over the years. John was a meticulous man who enjoyed devoting his time to the church and working in his yard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Virginia ""Ginger"" Ritchie Reid; one sister, Lillian Marie Matthews; and his parents. He is survived by two sons, Rick Reid of Clemmons and Johnny Reid of Garden City, SC; one daughter, Tina Hodges of Bermuda Run; one step-daughter, Mindy Lewis of Huntsville, AL; two grandchildren, Kristina and Karlee Rea Hodges; two step-grandchildren, Aubrey Michelle Lewis and Amberly Kate Blevins; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Graham Edgar Reid, Jr. and Henry Leroy Reid, both of Winston-Salem; and one sister, Gladys Irene Matthews of Farmington. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Bethania Moravian Church, with Rev. David Merritt officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-3:00 pm at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Clemmons Village II for the excellent care and compassion they gave to John during his illness.
