WINSTON-SALEM-Mr. John Franklin Shouse, 82, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Shouse was born on May 1, 1931 in Forsyth County to Franklin Ernest Shouse and Mary Weisner Shouse. After finishing school, John served in the United States Navy and was stationed on an aircraft carrier during the Korean War. Later, he was employed by AT&T until he developed a passion for golf. He turned that passion into a career as both a head golf professional and assistant golf professional at numerous golf courses around Forsyth County. Towards the end of his career, he worked at Piedmont Golf Shop where he customized and built golf clubs. Preceding Mr. Shouse in death were his parents and one sister, Natalie Hammond. Mr. Shouse is survived by his son, John Barry Shouse of Winston-Salem. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
