OAK RIDGE - Mr. Johnnie Brockton Edwards, 80, died Monday, November 18, 2013 at his home. Johnnie was born on November 16, 1933, in Guilford County to the late John and Flossie Putman Edwards. He retired from North State Pyrophyllite in Greensboro, was a member of Central Baptist Church, a member of Wild Wood Hunting Club in Caswell Co., and a volunteer fireman at the Oak Ridge Fire Department. Johnnie loved to camp and hunt. Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann Williams Edwards; two sons, Michael Edwards and wife, Kaye of Walkertown and Richard Edwards of Jonesville; one daughter, Jane Johnson of Colfax; four grandchildren, April, Brandon, John Michael and Brockton; three great- grandchildren, Anthony, Hannah and Gage; one brother, Paul Edwards; and a very special caregiver, Heather Skeen. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 20 , 2013 at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Roy Carter and Rev. David Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens in Greensboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
