Mr. Johnnie Clayton Vanhoy, Sr., 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Vanhoy was born on November 7, 1928 to Willie Parks Vanhoy and Bessie Rachel Ireland Vanhoy in Yadkin County. Mr. Vanhoy was a devoted member of Church of Christ at Ketner's Chapel where he served as an elder for as long as his health permitted. He loved listening to bluegrass music, watching NASCAR races and working on cars. He took many trips with his family to the Outer Banks where he enjoyed fishing. Mr. Vanhoy was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Campbell Vanhoy; granddaughter, Jennifer Vanhoy; sisters, Georgia Marlow and Ruth Myers; and brothers, Hubert, Hobert, and Robert Vanhoy. Surviving are his sons, Johnnie C. Vanhoy, Jr. (Darlene), and Gary S. Vanhoy (Luann); daughters, Sylvia Y. Vanhoy and Teresa L. Bliss (Adam); grandchildren, Jason, Kevin, Emily, and Katie; brothers, William R. Vanhoy and Thomas D. Vanhoy; and a sister, Bessie Bull. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Church of Christ at Ketner's Chapel with Mr. Jerry Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday, June 2, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
