Jose Ramos DeCastro, Jr.

Joe de Castro passed away at his home in Winston-Salem on Friday, July 10, 2015. Joe was born in the Philippines on March 6, 1972 to Lourdes Ramos Osborne and Jose de Castro, Sr.
Joe graduated from Oxon Hill High School and went on to earn a degree from Forsyth Technical Community College where he became the Assistant Instructional Designer in 2013. During his tenure at Forsyth Technical Community College, he was a member of Phi Theta Kappa society. His creativity and technical skills helped Joe achieve great strides and notable contributions towards the education of many students at Forsyth.
Joe's passion surpassed his love for art. He was a devoted, loving, and caring man. Joe valued spending time with family, but Joe loved one thing the most - his Mother. Joe was a simple man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed taking Moseley, his beloved dog, to the park. He shared hobbies and interests with his brother and nephews and he enjoyed his favorite meals prepared specially for him by his sisters and sister-in-law.
Joe will be remembered for his love of others and his huge heart. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Edita Hignite, and brother-in-law, Jose Tejeda. Joe is survived by his beloved mother, Lourdes Osborne; his step-father, William Osborne; two sisters, Victoria de Castro and Sarah Davis; a brother, Roberto de Castro and his wife Lori; a beautiful niece, Kristina de Castro; five nephews, Justin and Brandon Tejeda, and Anthony, Michael, and Robby de Castro; a cousin, Stephanie Sheehan; and a very special four legged companion, Moseley.
Gentle, stoic, peaceful, loving, generous, loyal, and honorable - this is how Joe will be remembered and loved always.
A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 pm Monday, July 13, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
