It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph Eugene Boles, 72, of Winston Salem, NC. He passed away peacefully on June 14th, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife, Donna.
Born on October 29th, 1953, in Winston Salem NC, Joseph, or Joby as he was lovingly called by his friends and family, was the son of Carl and Lorraine Boles. He grew up with three brothers, Harry, Carl ‘Alben’, and Jefferey, and one sister Margaret; his large family instilled strong bonds and love from an early age. He lived a life marked by strong faith, kindness, and an unwavering devotion to his family. All who knew Joseph knew him for his kindness, selflessness, and love; he gave selflessly and willingly to all who knew him. He will be deeply remembered and missed by all who knew him.
Throughout his life, he was passionate about his family, spending time on the lake, and spending time in the mountains. He loved spending summer weekends boating, water skiing, and splashing in the lake with his grandchildren. In winter months he loved spending his time snow skiing in the North Carolina mountains with his wife and daughter, Heather. Joseph was a man who loved the outdoors and spending quality time with his family; he cherished every moment spent with those he loved.
He leaves behind a beautiful legacy and will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Donna Boles, of 39 years; his daughter, Heather Hill (Benjamin Hill), and his 3 grandchildren, Ella Kate, Olive Grace, and Branson Hayes.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has offered support, prayers, and kindness during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00pm Friday, June 19, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
