Joseph 'Joe' Donald Stewart, DDS Sr.

Joseph Donald ""Joe"" Stewart, Sr., DDS, 81, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at his home. He was born December 7, 1930 in Polk County, IA to Charles Morton and Gertrude Elliott Stewart. Dr. Stewart was a general Dentist in private practice for 35 years, and then worked for the Department of Corrections for 16 years. Surviving are his wife, Mary ""Sandy"" Stewart; a daughter, Cynthia Ann Farrow of Wilson; two sons, Joseph D. Stewart, Jr. of Winston-Salem, and Douglas Dale Stewart of Wake Forest; four grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Francis Stewart. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 12 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplain Megan McSwaim officiating. There will be a private burial at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family wishes to express special thanks to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home Staff for their loving care and support.
