Joseph Philip Frisina

Joseph “Joe” Philip Frisina, born February 26, 1940, in Allegany, New York, died peacefully on July 6, 2026, in Winston-Salem, NC.

He attended General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) and graduated from Syracuse University. He worked for General Motors for many years and later worked for (what was then) Wachovia Bank in Winston-Salem, following his marriage to Anne Herndon.

He particularly enjoyed time with his family and volunteering for both Piedmont Opera Company and UNC School of the Arts.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Pasquale and Martha Botera Frisina; one son, John M. Frisina; four of his six siblings, Ann Marie Frisina Sczudlo, Don Frisina, Amy Frisina Stowell, and Pasquale Frisina; as well as one half-brother, Thomas Previglian.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anne Herndon; three of his four children, Lori Ann Frisina Braverman (Brad), Joseph C. Frisina (Rachel) and Mark L. Frisina; his sister, Teresa Frisina McMullen (Jack), and his brother Albert Frisina (Peggy); one granddaughter, Sarah Piper Frisina; as well as many nieces and nephews; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A committal of his ashes will be at his maternal family’s home outside Keating Summit, PA, at a time to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Frisina Herndon Endowed Scholarship at UNC School of the Arts, Office of Advancement, 1533 South Main Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
