Joseph "Joe" Michael Hooker

Kernersville – Joseph “Joe” Michael Hooker, 77, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Kernersville Medical Center. He was born on November 27, 1948, in Stokes County, NC to the late Claude Edgar and Mildred Flynn Hooker. Joe was an active member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. He was a hard worker and loved his work as a truck driver; eventually retiring from FedEx. Joe was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will surely be missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty James Hooker; and brother, David Edgar Hooker.

Those left to cherish Joe’s memory are his son, Timothy Hooker, and wife, Lisa; two granddaughters, Molly Tate, and boyfriend, Markus Tietjen, and Eryn Hooker; three sisters, Pat Atkins, and husband, Woody, Margaret Wilson, and husband, Blaine, and Ann Templeton, and husband, Arthur; one sister-in-law, Shirley Hooker; and his devoted companion, Brenda Sher.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Pastor Frank Shumate and Allan Comer officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:45 AM prior to the service.
