WINSTON-SALEM-Joseph Lee Niten, 75 passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016. He was born September 22, 1941 in Patrick Co., Virginia to the late Joseph Otto and Nannie Young Niten. Mr. Niten was an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville; and a member of the Forsyth Co. Beekeepers Association. He also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, John Niten; sister, Mary Southern and brother-in-law, Johnny Calhoun. Surviving are his beloved wife, Ann George Niten; three children, Joel Scott Niten, Joseph Michael Niten, and Joanna Rhodes (Travis); five grandchildren, Dawson, Peyton and Gavin Rhodes, Colby and Hannah Niten; three sisters, Virginia Beasley (Frank), Allene Harrison (Thaxton) and Irene Calhoun; brother, Benny Niten (Joyce) and a sister-in-law, Linda Smith. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with Rev. Eddie Honeycutt and Rev. T. Elliot Welch officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the church. The family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Stanleyville Mini Bus Fund, 851 Ziglar Rd. Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
