Joseph Sams

Mr. Joseph Alfred Sams, 86, went to be with the Lord, September 12, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care in Winston-Salem. He was born October 29, 1930 in Stokes County to the late Jacob and Bessie Sams. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict. In addition, he retired from R.J. Reynolds with 30 years' service as a Maintenance Supervisor. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, serving in many capacities. He is preceded in death by his parents. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Sams; and one son, Jimmy Sams and wife Carol. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with Pastor Eddie Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Mt. Airy, N.C. The family will receive friends Friday, September 15, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel Rural Hall beginning at 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M.
