Joseph "Joe" C. Tomei

Mr. Joseph ""Joe"" Christopher Tomei, 38, of Kernersville, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Joe was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania to Joseph Tomei and Mary Elizabeth Orrico Tomei. He graduated from Laurel High School in New Castle in 1997. Following high school, Joe attended Clarion University in Clarion, Pennsylvania and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Joe was employed with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as a senior trade manager. Joe was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church and an avid sports fan but spending time with his family was most important to him. Joe was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ennio and Della Tomei; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Ernestine Orrico; and his first cousin, Nick Orrico. In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by his wife, Christina Castelli Tomei of the home; two daughters, Isabella Marie Tomei, age 5 and Sofia Elizabeth Tomei, age 3; one sister, Christine Tomei Orelli and husband, Chet of Monroe, Ohio; parents-in-law, Herman and Miriam Castelli of Clemmons, NC; a brother-in-law, Herman Castelli, Jr. of Denver, Colorado; and one sister-in-law, Alina Vazquez of Littleton, Colorado. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church with Fr. Brian Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery in Clemmons. A memorial mass will be held at a later date in New Castle, Pennsylvania. Joe was a beloved husband, father, son and brother. He valued his family, his church and his job above all else. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. ""It ain't about how hard ya hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward."" Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family of Mr. Tomei.
