LewisvilleMr. Joseph ""Joe"" Leonard Turner, 82, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013. He was born August 30, 1931 in Davidson County to the late John Earl and Nora Evans Turner. Mr. Turner attended Saints Delight and Southfork Baptist Church. He served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army as a member of the Corp of Engineers and was a Marksman. He retired from Salem Electric with 50 years of service and belonged to the Tarheel Cutlery and Knife Club. Mr. Turner loved to box as a young person and also enjoyed watching boxing as a spectator. Preceding him in death was his first wife, Virginia Manual and several brothers and sisters. Surviving is his wife, Diane Livengood Turner; son, Randy Turner and wife, Carolyn; grandson, Jason; sister, Carolyn Lowry and husband, Will; two brothers, Raymond Turner and wife, Nancy and Glenn Turner and wife, Brenda; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and many friends and good neighbors. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 20, 2013 with Mr. Allen Angell officiating. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Leak Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery, Germanton, NC. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
