Joyce Battle

Mrs. Joyce McPhail Battle, 86, of Durham passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Duke University Hospital.  She was born January 5, 1933 in Nash County to Dougal McPhail Sr. and Mary Smith McPhail.  Mrs. Battle was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Ellsworth Battle, Jr.  Surviving are four sons, David Battle and wife Brenda and Paul Battle and wife Deborah, both of Bermuda Run, Greg Battle and wife Cathy of Huntersville and Thomas Battle of Winston-Salem, and five grandchildren, Brad Battle, Charles Battle, Lauren Battle, Laura Castro and Lisa Hundley and six great grandchildren.  A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 22, 2019 at Elmwood Cemetery in Enfield, NC with Rev. Craig Gaither officiating and Brad Battle delivering a eulogy.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
