Mrs. Juanita Henderson Shook, 87, of Winston-Salem, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 7, 2017. Juanita was born June 5, 1930, in Tennessee to Mr. Ebert Connelly Henderson and Mrs. Mary Evelyn Shetley Henderson. While living in Asheville, she attended Lee Edwards High School where she met her high school sweetheart Charles R. Shook, Sr. and later married him in 1951. She was a stay at home mom who taught her children to always stand tall and be true to yourself and others. Juanita was the backbone and glue that held the family together and was always straight up and spoke her mind. She was very giving to her family, friends, and strangers. Juanita was an active Christian and was a member of Peace Haven Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pauline Henderson. Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Charles Robert Shook Sr., a son, Charles Shook Jr., a daughter, Christy Lord, a sister, Dorothy Davis, five nephews, and five nieces. A graveside service will be held Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Parklawn Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Brian Edmonds.
