After a brief but valiant battle with cancer, our beloved wife and mother Judith (Judy) Carolyn Parham Blackwell went to be with her savior Our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 6:55 in the evening, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 25, 1942, the fourth in line of eight children to David A (Jack) Parham and Mary Ann (Mae) Milton Parham.
Judy, an 11-year breast cancer survivor, was a strong, spunky, smart, driven lady that doted on her husband, three children, and eight grandchildren. She led by example, showing her family the Judy-way of organizing life. Whether it be work ethic, organizing households and finances, cooking for a family gathering, or showing us how to present ourselves to the world, Judy was our go-to for how it was done.
She was a member of the Kernersville community for 48 years and was a pillar at Union Grove Baptist Church. She held the position of Church Clerk, Preschool Director, and was a dedicated member of the choir. Judy was a Senior Sales Administrator at Triad Freightliner from December 1971 to March 2017. She also spent 48 years with H&R Block where she worked part-time during tax season.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis William Parham and David Algier (D.A.) Parham, Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband, James (Jim) Autry Blackwell; three children, Jeffrey Kyle Blackwell (wife, Wanda), Jennifer Lea Blackwell Harner (husband, Andy), and Jeanae Carol Blackwell Johnson (husband, Todd); eight grandchildren, Allison Joy Blackwell, Jonathon Kyle Blackwell, Lydia Lea Harner, Eva Marie Harner, Aliza Mae Harner, Reed Powell Johnson, Alayna Blake Johnson, and Nora Graham Johnson; three sisters, Manie Parham Currin, Lessie Parham Fogle, and Annette Parham Myers; two brothers, Graham Parham and Shane Parham; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Judy will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Roberson officiating. A graveside service will take place at 4:00 pm at Mountain Creek Baptist Church, 2187 Mountain Creek Rd, Oxford, NC 27565. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Judy's name at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
