Judy Charles

Mrs. Judy Darr Charles, 73, of Winston-Salem, departed her earthly house for her heavenly home on Friday, March 15, 2019, after battling an extended illness. Mrs. Charles was born February 6, 1946 in Forsyth County. Judy loved going to church, RV’ing with her loving husband of 55 years, having sleepovers with her grandchildren and watching the New York Yankees. She was a faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. Judy worked with her family at Olde Homeplace Golf Club until she retired due to her illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Mary Darr. Surviving are her husband, Don Charles, Sr.; her children, Don Charles, Jr. (Denise), Mark Charles (Melissa) and Lori Sullivan (Michael); eleven grandchildren, Timothy (Madison), Emily (Lance), Melanie, Jonathan, Benjamin, Isaac, Elizabeth, Ethan, Tiffany, Drake and Lexi; two great grandchildren, Landon and Derek; a brother, Jack Darr and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Brother Frank Shumate and Brother Don Charles, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
