Julian Arthur Dunford

Mr. Julian Arthur Dunford, 79, passed away January 16, 2017 at Hospice and Palliative Care. He was born February 11, 1937 in McDowell County, WV to the late Marshall Monroe Dunford and Minnie Poff Dunford. Julian proudly served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. He was a Mason for over 25 years. Julian was a faithful member of Oldtown Baptist Church for 17 years and his favorite Sunday school class was the Willing Worker's Class. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers. Surviving is his lovely wife, Shirley Poff Dunford of 61 years; two sons, Greg Dunford (Patricia), Tim Dunford (Melinda); three grandsons, Grant Dunford (Christina), Tyler Dunford (Erika), Chase Dunford; two great-grandsons, Liam and Landon Dunford; one brother, one brother-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 12:00 noon Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Oldtown Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Speas officiating. Entombment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church beginning at 11:00 AM. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC, 27103. Online condolences maybe made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
