Karen Ann Painter Lowe

Karen Ann Painter Lowe, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2024. She was born in Forsyth County on January 2, 1945, to the late William Eugene Painter and Arietta Shadrick Painter. Karen was an extremely organized person with a great work ethic. She retired from GMAC Insurance after 43.5 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed spending time outdoors when it was warm, watching birds, and despised cold weather. She also loved listening to George Strait. Karen always put the needs of others above her own. She had an overwhelming love for her grandkids and was the biggest fan of her children and grandchildren’s sports endeavors. Karen will be missed by those who knew and loved her. 

In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her brothers, Gene Painter, and Ricky Painter. 

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Michael Ray Lowe (Angela); daughter, Tammy Lowe; grandkids, Austin, Mikayla, Branden, and Caden; as well as her loving and devoted sister, Linda Mays.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Waughtown Cemetery, with Pastor Bruce Updyke officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Memorials in Karen’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society at P.O. box 11796, Charlotte, NC 28220.
